Algae, Bacteria & Bears Oh My!

Although not really considered emerging pathogens anymore, Prototheca and Mycoplasma are routinely discovered during milk quality surveillance on dairy farms.  With more diagnostic options at our disposal it is sometimes a challenge to distinguish with certainty between a true intramammary infection and environmental sources.  Let’s have a discussion about these pathogens, monitoring for them, and the different tests we have at our disposal.
