MPCA announces animal feedlots rulescope

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is amending rules that regulate animal feedlots and manure storage areas under Minnesota Rules Chapter 7020. The comments were received during the Request for Comments period. After reviewing the comments received, the agency's statutory authority, program resources, and additional research needs, the agency has developed a Proposed Rule Scope outlining the topic areas the MPCA will review during the rulemaking process.

Minnesota beef producers to vote on proposed checkoff increase

Minnesota beef producers will have the opportunity to vote on a proposed refundable increase of 50 cents per head to the state’s current beef checkoff. It’s been more than 30 years since the last checkoff increase, when the Federal checkoff was implemented for all U.S. beef producers at $1.00 per head.

Referendum ballots will be mailed to producers on March 30.
